Job Title

Network Engineer – Wide Area Network (WAN) 

Purpose

Primary duties involve management and maintenance of circuit-based environments including frame relay, point-point, switched and satellite assets for multiple business units in México (central data center, backup centers, remote office sites, etc.).This position is a key role in the corporate Information Technology department, responsible for the on-going operations of company communications.

• Monitor dedicated network and proactively correct performance problems or communication interruptions 
• Work with 3^rd party communication vendors such as TELMEX, ALESTRA, MCM and T-Systems to maintain and expand communication circuits 
• Perform required network security related updates 
• Must enjoy working in a dynamic environment and be able to adapt workload/schedule accordingly (sometimes on short notice) 
• Coordinate all networks testing and assist with problem resolution 
• Work with internal teams to integrate new communication infrastructure for new customers and new local distribution companies LCD 
• Provide 24x7 support for the wide area network 
• Ability to work independently, based on past experience 
• Ability to appropriately respond to internal customers calls for assistance and the ability to appropriately resolve technical problems 
• Utilize a customer service attitude and approach to providing assistance and solutions 
• Prioritization of requests based on severity  
• Managing root cause analysis and preventive measures to ensure effective problem resolution  
• Assuming ownership for critical problems with proactive communication and follow through to completion while having the ability to raise issues when management assistance should be involved 
• Maintaining accurate contact and alert lists for team and customer communications  
• Assist in the development of help desk process and procedures for the support of help desk functions and team members  
• Manage telecommunications assets such as Alcatel PBX, Vanguard, Cisco routers, 3Com and it’s associated circuits and services; and other communications equipment. 
• Act as a team member with all employees staff 
• Comply with all policies and procedures

 Education /Experience 

· Bachelor’s degree computer science, information systems or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·Environments management, configuration management, network LAN and WAN, telecommunications, knowledge about the requirements for data centers, manage to SLA agreements.

·Minimum of 5 - 8 years of progressive experience.  Must have demonstrated experience in establishing and managing wide area network WAN and telecommunications.

·Knowledge related to platforms Alcatel and Cisco. (Certification desirable)

·Experience in local networks infrastructure, VPN’s, and administration of remote services
